Artist Statement: Dreamscapes

My work is a product of the intersection between the mundane and the marvelous, resulting in a diverse collage of enigmatic narratives. This assemblage serves as a window to a world where the elusive harmonizes with the absurd, and where reality merely acts as a starting point for an adventurous journey through the realm of imagination.

Utilizing the collage technique, my work echoes the process of piecing together fragments of consciousness, much like the unfolding of dreams. I sift through the visual residue of our daily existence, gathering seemingly unrelated elements, textures, and snippets of emotion, weaving them together into a narrative that defies established logic. Text plays an integral role, serving as a bridge between the written word and visual art.

The end result of this creative journey takes the form of paintings on paper. These paintings reveal the mystery within the everyday, where the seemingly ordinary world is transformed into a surreal spectacle. There exists a continual balance between light and shadow, serenity and disquiet, inviting the viewer to navigate the labyrinth of their own subconscious.

Drawing inspiration from the surreal aesthetics of David Lynch's universe, my art delves into the subconscious, unravels the mysteries that lie beneath the surface of reality, and explores the interplay between light and darkness, the serene and the unsettling. And n the spirit of The Dude's laid-back philosophy in "The Big Lebowski," I strive for a Zen-like approach to my art. Challenging preconceived notions and embracing absurdity provides a liberating insight in this tumultuous world.

Droomlandschappen

Mijn werk is het resultaat van de samensmelting tussen het alledaagse en het wonderbaarlijke, wat resulteert in een collage van raadselachtige verhalen. Het is een venster naar een wereld waar het ongrijpbare harmonieert met het absurde, en waar de realiteit slechts dient als het vertrekpunt voor een avontuurlijke reis.

Met behulp van de collagetechniek weerklinkt mijn werk het proces van het samenstellen van fragmenten van het bewustzijn, vergelijkbaar met het ontvouwen van dromen. Ik zeef door het visuele overblijfsel van ons dagelijks bestaan, waarbij ik ogenschijnlijk niet-gerelateerde elementen, texturen en flarden emotie verzamel, om ze vervolgens samen te weven tot een verhaal dat de vaststaande logica tart. Tekst speelt hierbij een cruciale rol, als een brug tussen het geschreven woord en de beeldende kunst.

Het eindresultaat van deze creatieve reis neemt de vorm aan van schilderijen op papier. Deze schilderijen onthullen het mysterie binnen het alledaagse, waar de ogenschijnlijk gewone wereld wordt getransformeerd tot een surreëel schouwspel. Er bestaat een voortdurende balans tussen licht en schaduw, sereniteit en onrust, waarbij de toeschouwer wordt uitgenodigd om het labyrint van zijn eigen onderbewustzijn te verkennen.

Geïnspireerd door de surreële esthetiek van David Lynch's universum, verkent mijn kunst het onderbewuste, ontwart de mysteries die onder het oppervlak van de realiteit liggen en onderzoekt het samenspel tussen licht en duisternis, het serene en het verontrustende. En in de geest van de relaxte filosofie van The Dude in "The Big Lebowski," streef ik naar een Zen-achtige benadering van mijn kunst. Het uitdagen van vooropgezette ideeën en het omarmen van het absurde biedt een bevrijdend inzicht in deze tumultueuze wereld.
